BLING IT ON

Six of our fave cheesy pop culture proposals that we hate to love. By Resident Millienial Intern, Liana Prinzevalli.

Pam + Jim, "The Office"

After 5 seasons of torturous waiting, all of America was exceedingly overwhelmed when TV’s cutest couple got engaged in the most underwhelming way. At a gas station. In the rain. I may have sniffled.

Cam + Mitchell, "Modern Family"

They both got down on one knee to fix a flat tire, looked at each other, then bellowed out, “Yes!” A gay couple on TV in a situation where neither partner plays the “masculine” role? HOW SOCIALLY AWARE. Millennials everywhere went wild. We love.

John + June,  "Walk The Line"

Like the hypermasculine southern brute he was, good old Johnny refused to finish a song on stage in front of an huge crowd until she agreed to accept his hand in marriage. Whatever, their names sound cute together.

Rob + Laura, "High Fidelity"

Rob mumbled and stumbled over his speech about wanting the “real thing” rather than a fantasy relationship. Laura and her short bangs giggled and agreed. Lloyd Dobler would be proud.

Andrew + Melanie, "Sweet Home Alabama"

McDreamy led an unsuspecting Melanie into Tiffany’s after hours and let her pick any ring she wanted. Subtle. We like it.

Monica + Chandler, "Friends"

They cried, we cried...but maybe it was just the inappropriate amount of fire-hazard-worthy dang scented votive candles that was making our eyes water.
