TALI + CRAIG
I went to visit my friend at work one night and we were being silly in the hallway. A senior partner walked by and she shoved me through the nearest doorway so her boss wouldn't see us. Turns out the office we busted into belonged to Craig!
I just remembered thinking that he was some corporate guy in a suit. I don't remember what we talked about, but I know that we laughed so hard we cried. He was hilarious. He asked my friend for my number the next day. Our first date was epic — we ran all over the city and ended up on the Roosevelt Island tram.
I realized Craig was "the one" on a random sticky summer's day when we were laying out on a blanket in Central Park. A massive storm rolled in and everyone started scrambling for cover. But just as I started packing up, he turned to me and said, "lets just get wet." I loved that.
We had been living together for three years when he proposed. He surprised me on his birthday with an insanely beautiful ring, and we got married in the Tuscan countryside. My friends made bouquets from local flowers and strung lanterns in the trees. During the ceremony everyone stood around us in a circle.
Both of my parents walked me down the aisle while my friend played flamenco guitar. Our officiant had us take a moment to look around the circle at everyone who was there for us, and we held hands and locked eyes with everyone before saying our vows. There was so much love.
I will always remember that moment. After the ceremony ate we risotto under the trees until the sun set, then danced all night. We honeymooned in Rome, Positano and Capri. Heaven.
