Shana + Brian

When we got back to the cottage, we changed out of our fancy clothes and drank champagne in our sweatpants.

We met through mutual friends at work. He says he had a crush on me at first sight, but when he tried to talk to me in the break room, I didn’t say “hey” back. We went to out to lunch together during work one day — I guess that was our official first date.

He says he always knew during our friendship that I was the one. We were in bed one day watching tv and he looked at me and said “I love you.” Everything happened so quickly. He proposed when we were at the beach on vacation. We had discussed getting married months before, but the topic had cooled down, so it was a surprise.

We had our ceremony at Black Balsam Knob in Asheville, NC. Neither of us had ever been to Asheville but the thought of saying “I do” at sunset on a mountain was so romantic! Our wedding was on a perfect Saturday in September with no rain in sight. We took pictures until we lost the last bit of light and had to hurry to our cars before the black bears came out.

We chose to recite traditional vows but our officiant did an amazing job getting to know us as a couple and made our ceremony fun and beautiful. We invited five friends and family members to witness our nuptials. Brian’s brother was his best man while one of my closest friends was my maid of honor. The dress code was “wear whatever” but we strongly suggested hiking boots.

After the ceremony, we went to a local Asheville restaurant for dinner. When we got back to the cottage, we changed out of our fancy clothes and drank champagne in our sweatpants.
