Talisha + Monica

Our first date lasted eight hours.

I met Monica at a friend’s house. I had recently moved away to a new city and was back in town to visit my family and friends. Although there was about fifteen people in my friend’s living room, it was like Monica was the only one in the room. I thought she was gorgeous…. breathtaking.

Our first date lasted eight hours. We went to dinner, then to a pool hall, but we didn't finish one game.  We may have shot a couple balls, and then just started talking for hours.  Luckily I met her my first night back in town on an 8-day visit, so we went out every night, for 6 days straight before I flew back to DC.

After dating for two years, on my birthday, we were shopping and decided to stop at a jewelry store. She said, lets take a look at engagement rings! We literally had to go to the bank and come back, designed it and bought it that day. Before we left, she bought herself one, too.

One of my closest friends has a beautiful 3-story summer home on the water in Annapolis.  One winter night we were sitting outside by her fire pit overlooking the water and she said, why not have it here? Since we only had 40 guests, it was the perfect place.  We had our rehearsal dinner there with just our close family and bridesmaids.  It rained the days leading up to it, but that morning it was 75 degrees and sunny.

We had an open bar with two specialty cocktails and passed hors d’oeuvres.  For dinner we served, salmon, steak or a veggie option. The wedding started at 3pm, followed by the cocktail hour and reception. When the song Poison came on, and everyone started going crazy.
