Tara + Dom

I met Dom through work. He made me nervous, but I didn't know why. We had so much to talk about. We laughed for hours. On our first date, we neighborhood hopped and bar hopped nearly all night long.

A few weeks into dating it clicked. This is what relationships were supposed to be like. I loved the idea of growing old with him. I still do and always will! I said I love you first. We were in his room getting ready for work — romantic timing has never been my forte.

We liked to talk about our dream wedding when we were a cocktail or two deep. The next day, we'd pretend it never came up. At one point, it became a regular part of conversation. It felt natural and like we both came to the decision together. I was excited about getting married but overwhelmed by the prospect of a wedding. It turns out throwing a party for yourself is pretty damn fun.
We got married at the lily pond at Belmond El Encanto. The morning of our wedding, it was foggy and chilly but the ceremony was perfect. Blue skies with small streaks of clouds and in the 70s. We had around 130 guests. Our wedding started an hour late due to a technical issue with the music. Everything after that felt like smooth sailing.

On the morning of the wedding I woke up around 5am and couldn't go back to sleep. I took a long shower, had an acai bowl, and started to get ready.  My dad walked me down the aisle to "The Beatitudes" by Kronos Quartet. I think I cried before he did. My sister and sister in law were my matrons of honor and I had four other bridesmaids.  Our guests were dance machines. We were dance machines. People danced until midnight and then ordered pizza.
